Wolverine Origins #25

What's cool about Wolverine Origins #25?

Drowning Wolverine.

Of course that's not the only thing. But to kill Wolverine, as Deadpool has been heading towards since this arc started, it would make sense that you either drown him, or dump him in space. Without air, it doesn't matter how good your healing factor is, it can't create oxygen. Skin, bones and muscle - sure! But not a gases that requires plant-life.

For those who haven't read the other 4 parts, I'll bring you up to speed. Deadpool has been hired by someone to kill Wolverine. Deadpool went through a huge rigmarole of shooting, stabbing, blowing up and killing Wolverine, all in the hopes of getting Wolvy into this trap which would drown him. Which obviously succeeded.

Despite the violence starting a few pages later, it shows some nice close-ups of Daken's (Wolverine's son) claws along with some painful scenes. Only problem I have with Daken's claws is that they look like they were put in acid, or are made of rusted metal. Or he has a black skeleton...

I know I cut it off there by not posting the next page, but Deadpool loses his other hand. That leads up to the next cool part - Wolverine versus Daken - something that's been brewing since Wolverine Origin #10!

I'll let you read for yourselves what happens and how that ends - but the issue doesn't end there! It goes on to reprint Deadpool's first appearence! 17 years old!

I'm not going to comment on the quality of art from the artist for this particular reprint (there's enough Liefeld bashing out there to fill several sites), but I will touch on a subject that will be the topic of a future Pint Of Cool. Costumes.

Now you see swords:

Now (4 panels later) you don't!

That's something that's not cool about comics. But at the same time, if it's intentional, it IS cool. Like I said, future posting.

Now, the last thing that's cool about this issue of Wolverine Origins?

Deadpool on sale in September! Yeah! He's been stuck with Cable in the title of his book for the last 4 years, so he deserves a break. And I'm totally bias, but that one little graphic is the coolest thing about this comic.
